|Forum Home > Unreal GOLD > OSX unreal gold now broken by gamespy for IP games|
unreal gold is no longer picking up server lists after gamespy shut down.
Unreal.ini refers only to 'gamespy'
so now all the server lists are empty.
This solution is from the oldUnreal site:
MasterServer news update [17-06-2014]
A while ago, GameSpy announced to stop the GameSpy Master Server services on the 31st of May this year. So far the service is still operational, but no one knows for how long this will last. This means that one of the biggest and well known Master Servers will no longer be available to provide the list of unreal-servers in the Unreal server browser.
So, how does this affect us?
If your unreal.ini file isn't properly configured with the needed Master Servers, you will not be able to find an Unreal-Server, since the list will stay empty whenever you try to find one in the Unreal server browser.
For Unreal-server admins:
If GameSpy is the only server configured (or other Master Servers which no longer exists) on your Unreal-server, this could mean that no one is able to find your server anymore after the 31st of may. (unless your server was previously added to their favorites list).
What can we do about this?
Players should check and update their Unreal.ini file, so that it contains the current community Master Servers. This will allow them to play Unreal and find the Unreal-servers (unless the admins don't update their servers!) like they are used to do for many years.
For Unreal players, the following lines are advised to exist in your Unreal.ini:
Please note that the numbers to in this example can be edited and extended if you add more or other master servers. Just make sure you start with and count up from there.
Unreal-Server admins are adviced to check their Unreal.ini as well.
A lot of Unreal-servers run a recent (patched) version of Unreal-server, which is 227, wherein the Unreal.ini are already configured a few known community master servers. But... Since some things have changed over time, it's not a bad idea to check your Unreal.ini and update it with the list of current community Master Servers.
Unreal-servers still running version 225 or 226 are urged to checkout Unreal.ini, as it might be possible that it doesn't contain any of the current community Master Servers. Your server could be lost after the 31st of May.
For Unreal servers, the following lines are advised to exist in your Unreal.ini:
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.oldunreal.com MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.hlkclan.net MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master2.oldunreal.com MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.hypercoop.tk MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.newbiesplayground.net MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.errorist.tk MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.qtracker.com MasterServerPort=27900
If players and Unreal-admins both update their Unreal.ini with the current list of community Master Servers, we surely stay able to play at all unreal-servers after the 31st of may, when GameSpy announced to stop the Master Server services.
More information regarding configuring Master Servers can be found in the wiki:
Thanks for posting this, J. I haven't played Unreal Gold online in about a year, or so, and now that I have thiss issue myself, it made me want to play Unreal Gold again...
